Ucantekme

One of Turkey’s earliest community blogs—Ucantekme.com evolved into a civic platform for political discourse and information sharing post-9/11.
Ucantekme.com was launched in June 2001 as a custom-made blog initially focused on internet culture and politics. Following the 9/11 attacks in New York, the site evolved into a vibrant community platform. At a time when mainstream media faced censorship challenges, Ucantekme.com became a hub for discussion, idea sharing, and information exchange around global and local events. Community members actively participated in discussions, voted on ideas, and shared links and resources.
In recognition of its civic impact, the Turkish daily Radikal named Ucantekme.com one of the best community websites of 2001. Its custom publishing software, forums, voting systems, and visual templates were designed and developed by Burak Arikan and Engin Erdogan.
Ucantekme.com was active until early 2005, just before social media platforms began to recentralize the Internet.
